Beginning Stages and Initial Scans
Original Inspirations
Looking around CMU's campus and my drawing class' prop room, I noticed a theme of decay and evidence of memories from objects I had come across. Most notably, in the prop room I found three shoes: a child's sandal, a roller skate, and a pair of worn down heels. The three laid out three pivotal stages of life for me: childhood, adolescence and adulthood, and I was fascinated by how their worn conditions and obsolescence played into their current value and purpose.
I continued further to find objects that had become obsolete in the natural world and in my day-to-day life. Being in autumn, I saw this decay around me through fallen leaves. From my own items I found that candy, used in autumn for Halloween, quickly becomes obsolete and discarded after its consumption and passing of the holidays, and thus quickly garners a change from being treasured and regarded lightly to being waste and polluting environments.
Here are some 3D scans of several of the objects (candy, leaves, child's sandal) from Qlone:
Integrating Elements into Finalized Idea
In combining these separate elements into one cohesive body, I plan to incorporate them all into a dreamlike virtual environment through Blender, playing on the idea of forgotten memories and obsolescence.
